The ancient craft of basketry and weaving , particularly with local willow, forms a key part of Somerset’s rural heritage. To celebrate and share this practical art form we’ve invited artist Sarah Webb to join us between May and December to lead a series of courses in basketry and willow work for total beginners through to those with more advanced skills.
We’ve beginners workshops to get you started, a choice of basketry workshops in which to apply your skills to to create beautiful functional baskets in a variety of styles. The towards the end of the year try your hand at making individual Christmas decorations, reindeer, stars and angels in one of our one day workshops.
Sarah Webb is a highly skilled traditional and contemporary willow artist and passionate teacher. Join her and develop your skills in this creative and sustainable art form and explore some of the ways it can be employed to make useful and decorative items for your home or as gifts.
