Somerset Staycation – Half Board at Halsway

Halsway Manor is temporarily offering holiday accommodation in West Somerset.

Are you in need of a holiday or change of scenery? does a manor in the Quantocks where you can get out into nature sound appealing? Well in these exceptional times this is possible at Halsway Manor, National Centre for Folk Arts. You can enjoy the hospitality of our historic manor, recently refurbished bedrooms, the beautiful Quantock Hills AONB setting and local walks during breaks in our taught programmes.

This is a rare treat! Although we are usually back to back with music and dance courses our programme has changed to meet covid rules. So while no courses are being run, we’d like to offer the manor for half board accommodation. It seems a good way to make use of the manor and our simple, comfortable hospitality and rural setting offers the space to social distance without being antisocial. Most importantly, it will help keep this much loved Charity afloat ensuring a future for Halsway Manor – the home from home for the folk music and dance world.

Halsway Manor is a perfect base to explore the Quantock Hills, Exmoor and West Somerset Coast, by car, foot or bike. Or maybe bring your paints, craft materials, or instruments to make use of our workshop room and explore our folk library with all its folk music resources – a perfect opportunity to research some folk tunes or local folklore.

The historic Manor has medieval origins, Tudor details, simple accommodation, a warm hearth, a panelled bar, and easy access to footpaths and cycle routes throughout the Quantock Hills and West Somerset Coast. Ideal for walking and cycling holidays. Single, Double, Twin and Family Rooms are available.  Cooked breakfasts and early evening meals are served in the dining room. Our main hall, long room, bar, library, Mardon Room and gardens are additional social spaces to enjoy.

We have been given the Visit England ‘Good to Go’ mark for operating Covid safe practices, so each room comes with an ensuite or dedicated bathroom facilities, breakfast and evening dinner dining is served at your table, and the bar is laid out with social distance. You can read more about Covid safety measures here. You can be safe and still enjoy the simple, warm and friendly offer here at Halsway Manor.

Your stay will help to support the charity and keep the folk scene alive!

So this is a rare opportunity to make your own staycation holiday in the medieval Manor House, enjoy its grounds and the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty.
