Come and join Jo Sadler, of Forged in Willow, to create your own willow deer sculpture – the perfect pre-Christmas activity! Perhaps you’ve been looking for something to do with friends instead of exchanging gifts, or you’d just like to get away from the John Lewis advert for a day…
Jo will bring her Somerset Level-grown willow as the main material you’ll use to make a 3-4ft high deer sculpture, and all the materials are provided. Your deer will look great in your garden, or make a unique gift for someone in your life!
The workshop is suitable for ages 16 years and up. You’ll need to wear comfy shoes and clothing, and we advise that you bring an apron with you. This is a creative, lively workshop with a very satisfying result…just make sure you have room in the car to take your deer home!
Jo Sadler comes from South Somerset and demonstrates willow weaving all over the country.
She has been teaching willow workshops for several years now and works with the National Trust at Barrington and Montecute, River Cottage, and Abbotsbury Gardens. Originally a gardener, Jo grows her own small supply of willow from withy beds and gets all of her other willow direct and fresh from the Levels. You can see other examples of sculpture on Jo’s website – josadlerwillow.com – and on Facebook and Instagram.
