Nancy Kerr and James Fagan return for their incredibly popular workshop weekend, aimed at enhancing each participant’s confidence and enjoyment of performance. Nancy and James create a very warm, open and safe environment in which musicians of all abilities find inspiration to both share and learn.

Combining large group workshops down to intimate special interest classes, Nancy and James will aim to explore:

  • Harmony singing – singers of all abilities will benefit from the chance to build new arrangements of some great songs with Nancy and James.
  • Instrumental arrangement and song arrangements for small ensembles and larger groups.

This year, there will be even more opportunity for discussion of specific issues relating to public performance, with individual participants invited to share their experiences with the tutors and the group, though one-to-one sessions won’t be available.

The course will build on participants’ existing skills and technique, and introduce new repertoire.

There will be an ‘Over To You’ informal performance on Saturday night for everyone to share what they’ve been working on with other members of the group.

Who is it for?

Musicians, singers, and singer-musicians, of all level of experience welcome (except complete beginners). There won’t be instrument-specific tuition; you’ll need to be comfortable getting involved at whatever level you can play. Diatonic instruments are very welcome.

Participants don’t need to be able to read music or learn by ear, as both options will be available during the workshops, and you won’t need to prepare anything in advance.

This will be the third time that James and Nancy have run this weekend at Halsway; the course content remains similar to last year but naturally the teaching material used will be all-new, so return participants will be very welcome.
