Who’s it For?
Whatever your level of experience in dancing and/or playing, come and enjoy a convivial few days with like minded people. Bring a friend, bring the whole family, it’s a lovely place for an Easter break.
Pete and Marj Hendy have run folk events for over twenty five years, at a variety of venues, including dance holidays, Folk Camps and here at Halsway Manor. They have called at numerous clubs and festivals (including, Sidmouth, Chippenham, Broadstairs and Eastbourne). With their extensive repertoire of English and American dances and their lively approach they aim to give everyone an enjoyable experience.
Music is provided by Meg’n’Mor – a group born out of a previous Halsway residential organised by Meg and, such was the instant success of their music, named in her honour! Although a new band, Meg’n’Mor combines the highly experienced dance musicians Meg Winters from Momentum on guitar, Heather Bexon from Stowfolk on accordion and Jane Harrison, who formerly played in Alterations, on fiddle. Their repertoire, enriched by all three being expert dancers immersed in folk music from an early age, ranges from 1650s English tunes to modern tunes for Contra dancing with strong northern influences as well as Heather’s own compositions.
