Halsway Young Folk 2021 is ON!

A fabulous opportunity for young musicians from the South West and beyond to share a residential holiday in the home of UK folk. With like minded and talented souls you’ll work with leading folk artists to develop your skills, confidence and creativity. Although the opportunity to perform at a folk festival isn’t part of this years programme, the immersive time spent in the grounds and surrounding countryside at Halsway Manor has its own festival feel with workshops, sessions, plenty of fresh air and the opportunity to perform live together in a safely social space.

Halsway Young Folk Intermediate Mon 26 Jul – Sat 31 July is for young musicians 12 – 18 years old. Players of any instrument are welcome. We’d recommend you need to be of a playing level of about grade 4 and upwards to get the most from the course. We’ll be teaching predominantly by ear, so if you’re used to reading music you’ll need to be prepared to give it a go!

Halsway Young Folk Junior Mon 16 Aug – Wed 18 Aug is a great introduction to folk music and song for 8 – 12 year olds. Filled with fun and imaginative folk activities, using local traditions and customs as inspiration. For this any instrument, and any level of proficiency welcome. The main thing is that you enjoy music, song and dance, and being creative!

The tutor and pastoral team are: Becki Driscoll, Hannah Cumming (Intermediates), Kerrie Seymour, and Ford Collier (Juniors).

the young Folk programme above is only for younger guests. There are other ways for young people to enjoy folk music, dance and song at Halsway Manor alongside older family members on one of our family oriented experiences. With Family Folk Week Sat 31 Jul- Fri 6 Aug, and Folk Summer School 30 Aug to 3 Sept.
