We’re delighted to be hosting another enjoyable summer weekend of Ukulele music and song for players of all levels of experience.
The mix of the three tutors is what makes this course special. Jon deals with the ‘tools of the trade’, introducing new fingerstyle and strumming techniques along with some theory. Sam takes you down the classical route with tablature and ensemble playing. Phil is a jazz and blues specialist who introduces a bit of extra spice in your playing. There will be plenty of time to relax and socialize too. The evenings include opportunities to perform your own material, plus enjoy an informal concert on the Saturday by the tutors.
In the past, the weekend workshops have covered:
•New chords from the blues/jazz repertoire and how they fit together
•Strumming techniques suitable for different styles and songs
•Fingerstyle playing as well as strumming
•How to accompany yourself on a song
•Advice on purchasing instruments, strings, etc
•How to read and interpret tablature
You’ll also be able to develop Ukulele Band skills, using pieces arranged for different ability levels; gain performance tips – get thinking about how you want to present your music improve stage craft and presence – and develop confidence and song writing skills, unlocking some creative potential!
“Excellent teaching by all, also the evening jamming was good for hearing other repertoires.” Participant
Who is it for?
We’ll accommodate all standards of player, though this course may not be suited to absolute beginners. We will require you to bring your own instrument. Handouts and music will be provided.
