We are now six months into our Heritage Lottery Fund project and a variety of activities have already taken place. From Heritage Open Days welcoming the public to come and explore the history of the manor, to a family folklore walk up on the Quantock hills in partnership with the AONB, schools workshops and folk arts tasters at the summer fete, Halsway has been opening its doors and reaching out to a whole new audience. The Travelling Library has also been out on the road, visiting local libraries to show our support and spread the word of all the wonderful things we have here at Halsway. We have also installed exciting new interpretation in the Great Hall so that people can discover the fascinating history of the manor.
Feedback for our activities has been overwhelmingly positive. We welcomed around 200 people to our heritage open days, many of whom were discovering Halsway for the first time. Local school children have been reimagining the manor and its history with great creativity and enthusiasm. We are thrilled with the impact this project is starting to have and how it is enabling us to show Halsway to new visitors, especially those living locally.
As the project continues to progress we will upload more reflections, feedback and hopefully creative contributions from the young people we have worked with. Check this page for updates!
