Halsway Manor – National Centre for Folk Arts
Halsway Manor offers year-round residential courses and workshops focusing on traditional folk arts from around the world. We cover a range of artforms, including music, song, dance, and craft, and in particular those from England. The manor hosts gigs and events with expert musicians and storytellers, as well as offering wellbeing and artist retreats. We are a registered charity based in Somerset, nestling at the foot of the Quantock Hills (a National Landscape), and are the only residential centre working primarily within the folk arts.

How can I visit Halsway Manor?
Our courses run all year round, start on Monday or Friday evenings, and guests stay with us for four or two nights. You can see all our events by following the link above. Each event page will give you more information about what to expect from a particular course. We welcome everyone from complete beginners to those who are very experienced, and have a series of courses especially for young people interested in folk arts. You can choose the best accommodation for you from a range of options and prices; these include our comfortable bedrooms, your own tent or campervan, or a local B&B. If you live locally, you’re also welcome to travel to the Manor each day.
Our gigs are open to the general public and tickets can be booked online. You’ll be welcomed in for the evening, where you’ll find a well-stocked bar and in winter, a roaring fire.
