A traditional silversmithing course for beginners, exploring surface pattenation.

Led by Ness Bird, this weekend will focus on developing basic smithing skills through the process of making 2 simple pieces of silver jewellery of your choosing. We will be using techniques such as soldering, forging, planishing (creating a hammered surface,) stamping and oxidising. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with techniques over the weekend to create different surface decorations.

“Beautiful setting – you felt ‘spoilt’ for the weekend” Participant

Please bring a small sketch book and pencil (A5 ish). Make sure you wear old comfortable clothes with no loose ends, and tie long hair back. Materials are included for 2 pieces, extra materials  will be available to purchase as necessary. Tools will be provided for your use during the course.
