We’re delighted to welcome the return of  Token Women for a fun and funky folk musicians’ weekend of tunes and dances! Cosy-up in the Manor, for a great weekend packed with good music and good company.

Expect to play loads of tunes both in small groups and in a large ensembles – with informal sessions in the bar and a chance to dance too. We will look at repertoire from the British Isles and beyond, including some of the band’s classic tunes. We’ll also look at riffs and accompaniments, how to move your dance music in unexpected directions, and discuss the relationship between ‘dance calling’ and repertoire. We’ll begin with an informal session on the Friday after dinner, to welcome you all and to outline the plans for the weekend, before workshops begin in earnest on Saturday morning. See you for a rollicking weekend!

Who’s it For?

Musicians – all ages, all instruments, all abilities except total beginners – who want to have fun exploring playing music for dancing in small and larger ensembles.

The Team

With an unbeatable line-up of Jo Freya, Alice Kinlock, Heather Horsley, Jo May, Linda Game and Fi Fraser, Token Women are an unrivalled ceilidh band who also play concerts – as well or a mix of both. Driving fiddles, saxes, clarinets, keyboard, percussion, tuba, euphonium and trombone combine with a pan European repertoire for a really varied mix of sound. They’re so sought-after they’ve even appeared on The Archers and Emmerdale! Listening to them is like being inside someone’s wild, joyous music party – and you’re invited to join them for this practical musicians’ weekend!
