This music-making weekend for all acoustic instruments is a firm favourite in our calendar! Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll welcome you back into their Front Room – relocated just for this weekend to Halsway Manor – for another easy-going weekend of session playing.
The inspiration for this came from a weekly Facebook session, run from Nick & Becki’s front room during the lockdowns in 2020/21. They’ve now transitioned to a live, in-person weekend, which are a lot of fun! It’s a weekend to learn new tunes, play old favourites, and have a go at arranging for groups using traditional music from around the world.
There will also be opportunities to join in with singing, as well as performing your own party pieces (if you’d like to) in safe, sharing spaces. For those who like something a bit different, you can expect some alternative options over the weekend – and we really mean “alternative” in every sense!
Nick & Becki look forward to welcoming you to a fun-filled weekend of music and laughter.
Who is it for?
Players of any instrument. You’ll need a basic grasp of your instrument to get involved. The course is ideal for those who have little or no experience of playing together, as well as experienced session players.
The Team
The musical partnership of Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll has its roots in the traditional music of South West England but explores a contemporary sound that draws on inspiration from across the globe.
Their latest album Cold Light bridges the gap between past and present with a mixture of traditional dance tunes, new compositions and self-penned songs.
Nick & Becki are expert workshop leaders as well as performers and have a number of projects on offer alongside their duo repertoire.
