Try your hand at Swedish dance (with the Third Beat Dance Collective). Join participants who are on Halsway Manor’s Scandi Winter Weekend for a night of Swedish dance. Suitable for absolute beginners. Come and try something different!
The Third Beat Dance Collective is comprised of Ella Sprung, Andy Parr and Lucy Huzzard, all of whom studied for a diploma in Swedish Folk dance at the Eric Sahlström Institute in Sweden. They bring a contemporary look at the intricacies of partner dance, and shine a new light on what traditional dance can offer for connecting with our bodies, the music and each other.
Klara Andersson has been taught traditional songs in the home since childhood. She plays Swedish pipes and recorder and started dancing ten years ago, now she has a bachelor degree in folk dance pedagogy. In 2015-2016 she studied folk singing at a folkhögskola in western Sweden where her interest for “trall” (Swedish diddling) grew bigger. Her repertoire of songs is varied and she has a love for singing with harmonies, especially if there is a nice groove or a melancholic melody!
