Our Ukulele and Singing Weekend tutors welcome all-comers to a lighthearted evening of ukulele and song!
Sara Spade & her band The Noisy Boys have an ebullient Ukulele-led sound that has led to her playing at The Royal Albert Hall for BBC Radio 2’s massive D-Day 70th Gala, plus the National Centre for Early Music in Yorkshire (World War One centenary) – as well as being a popular face on the festival circuit, including Vintage, Wilderness & Bestival. She also just headlined a sold out Ukulele Festival of Great Britain 2015 and played the 5000 seater ‘Big Top’ at Camp Bestival 2015.
Retro-Pop & Vintage Swing form the core of Sara’s sound – with acoustic versions of soul classics like George Michael’s “Faith” dancing happily beside flapper & prohibition tunes, calypsos like “Rum & Coca Cola” and ballads like “Secret Love” from the 1953 movie Calamity Jane.
Sara rarely performs solo, so catch her at Halsway!
“Great evening, I loved it!” Jules Holland
Jon Bennett and Liz Van Santen are both members of four-piece band Moonrakers, which combines musicians from both the classical and the folk tradition. The fact that the band “just OOZES quality” (Living Tradition) is down to the careful arrangements and selection of tunes and songs, presenting “exquisite music” (BBC). Now with four albums under their belt and described as “startlingly talented” (Oxford Times), Moonrakers provide “truly wonderful” (Wycombe Festival) informal evenings of musical excellence and humour.Book now
