Rescheduled from February, Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll would like to welcome you to their Front Room! A music-making weekend for all acoustic instruments, the inspiration for this came from a weekly Facebook session, run from Nick & Becki’s Front Room during lockdown. Learn new tunes, play old favourites and have a go at arranging for groups using traditional music from around the world.
There will also be opportunities to join in with singing, as well as performing your own party pieces (only if you want to!) in safe, sharing spaces. For those who like something a bit different, there will also be an elective “arranging rock classics for folk instruments” workshop! (Other activities will be available at the time…) Nick & Becki look forward to welcoming you to a fun-filled weekend of music and laughter!
Who’s it For?
Players of any instrument. You’ll need a basic grasp of your instrument to get involved. The course is ideal for those who have little or no experience of playing together, as well as experienced session players.
The Team
The musical partnership of Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll has its roots in the traditional music of South West England but explores a contemporary sound that draws on inspiration from across the globe.
Their latest album Cold Light bridges the gap between past and present with a mixture of traditional dance tunes, new compositions and self-penned songs.
Nick & Becki are expert workshop leaders as well as performers and have a number of projects on offer alongside their duo repertoire.
