Following the cancellation of Leveret’s Musicians’ Week in June this year, we’re delighted to have found a slot in the Autumn when Andy, Rob and Sam can return to lead an extended format musicians’ workshop. Participant numbers will be lower than usual, so book early to ensure your place!

“Leveret is the finest of traditional English folk today: a trio of poise and subtle gesture, of deft layering, graceful swing and gorgeous understatement.” The Guardian

Leveret features three of England’s finest folk musicians – Andy Cutting, Rob Harbron, Sam Sweeney – in an acclaimed collaboration, and we’re delighted to welcome them back to Halsway to lead this workshop week, focusing on ensemble playing.

Leveret’s music involves playing together spontaneously without using arrangements. This workshop week for instrumentalists will explore ways of playing together intuitively in ensembles of varying size, as well as discussing repertoire development and composition.

Who’s it For?

The week is open to instrumentalists of intermediate to advanced abilities. It is not suitable for complete beginners!  The weekend will focus on general music-making skills rather than instrument-specific technique, so you’ll need to have a sufficient grasp of your instrument to get involved.  The course will be taught by ear

This workshop is limited to 25 participants and will be popular so please do book your place sooner than later!

Melodeon genius Andy Cutting is a three-time winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ‘Musician of the Year’ award, and as well as his new trio with Martin Simpson and Nancy Kerr currently performs with Blowzabella, Topette, June Tabor, and Roger Daltry.

Concertina wizard Rob Harbron is known for his work with The Full English (Best Group and Best Album BBC Folk Awards 2014), Emma Reid, Fay Hield, Jon Boden and others.
