Creative Communities 2017 Programme
Have you ever had the desire to write a song or develop your songwriting, or always wanted to write a novel or play, or create your own dance piece, design your own craft piece or new art work? Over the months of Jan, April, July and October Halsway Manor is excited to introduce a new series of community workshops. These are aimed at those who are new to the craft or who have created pieces but want to develop their skills and meet like minded people.
Each month will focus on a new art form with four Sunday workshops running from 10am until 5pm. Each day workshop runs as a stand-alone session but combines to form part of a series covering different elements each time. You can book in for one session or ideally for all four to complete the series. Alongside this we even have a separate programme of special evening events to showcase local creative artists to act as further inspiration and which are open to the general public.
January: The Creative Writing Series
This first series is open to all those who want to explore different types of writing and find their own voice. The workshops are aimed at all levels to give people the chance to experiment across the different areas and to develop their creativity in a friendly environment. The series will cover a range of styles including writing in nature, fiction, poetry & music, and working collaboratively. All designed to move you from page turner to dreamer.
Session 1: Writing in Nature – an exploration of writing in relation to place and how the landscape can inspire us.
Session 2: Fiction – Exploring ideas of plot and narrative. What sort of narrator are you? Creating fictional worlds.
Session 3: Poetry and Music – How music and poetry work together to create atmosphere and influence each other.
Session 4: Collaboration – How working with others can change and enrich your work and liberate your writing.
