THE COURSE/PROFICIENCY
A fun and friendly ‘House Party’ for all who enjoy folk dancing and playing and want to try a range of dances styles. There will be dance and music workshops each morning, afternoons are free to explore this lovely area or take a ramble in the Quantock Hills. There’s a dance each evening with the occasional music session and sing around in the bar afterwards. Also Pat will be offering optional craft worshops for those wanting to try something different.
WHO’S IT FOR?
Whatever your level of experience in dancing and / or playing, come and enjoy a convivial few days with like-minded people. Bring a friend, bring the whole family, it’s a lovely place for an Easter break!
THE PROGRAMME
Arrive from 4pm on Sunday, depart after breakfast on Friday.
We’ll post a detailed programme nearer the time, but do get in touch if there’s anything specific you need to know.
THE TEAM
Ted & Pat Morse: Ted began dancing with the Oxford Morris Men and Oxford City Folk Dance Club when he was 17, started calling and running barn dances at 19, and has barely paused since! Ted plays accordion, percussion and tuba, is an experienced band leader, teaches Morris, Sword and Country dancing (and more!) and is a regular tutor at Halsway Manor – along with Pat . In additional to playing and hosting the week, Pat will also be running craft workshops for you to try your hand at something different!
Gareth Kiddier (piano) & Linda Game (fiddle) are The English Contra Dance Band, an energetic two piece band and one of the UK’s most in-demand purveyors dance music. They’ve performed at most of the major UK Festivals – including Sidmouth, Chippenham, and Towersey – as well as international dates in Den-mark and America’s East Coast.
