A musicians’ week with Emmanuel Pariselle & Didier Oliver.
Enjoy an intensive week exploring French traditional music with tunes from south west (rondeaux, congos, bransles etc.), central massif (bourrées, mazurkas, scottishs) and bretagne (gavottes, plinn, andros). Emmanuel will concentrate on working with melodeon players, Didier with players of mandolin and fiddle, with time spent on instrument-specific technique in addition to exploring repertoire.
Plenty of time in the evenings to relax, enjoy informal sessions, plus an exceptional tutors’ gig from Emmanuel and Didier on the Thursday evening.
Who’s it For?
For intermediate level and above, you’ll need to be prepared to learn tunes by ear.
The course is aimed primarily at players of DG melodeon (with Emmanuel), and fiddle and mandolin (with Didier). Players of other instruments please check with us before booking.
The Tutors
Emmanuel and Didier have played – and sung – together since 1975, and both are experienced and entertaining teachers. Emmanuel is one of France’s finest players of both the melodeon and concertina, while Didier (La Base Duo) is also a superb fiddler and also plays equally well mandolin, boha (Gascon) pipes and guitar.
