Everyone is welcome to this late-summer knees-up at Halsway Manor. Whether you’re new to ceilidh-dancing or a seasoned pro, or even if you prefer to watch from the sidelines than throw yourself into the fray!
The Bristol Ceilidh Quartet brings together three experienced English folk fiddlers and a fab cellist to make a big string sound with loads of energy and drive. The band take great tunes and create exciting arrangements exploring the dynamic range of the string quartet. This isn’t serious classical music though, all the musicians have spent many years playing for traditional dance; every tune is calculated to get feet tapping and people on the dance floor.
Lisa Heywood is one of the most exciting and vibrant young callers on the scene, with a wealth of experience, having called at countless weddings, parties, dance clubs and folk festivals in the UK and abroad. Whatever the event, she always ensure that the evenings’ dancing is fun, energetic and inclusive!
“My ethos is that that the important thing is having fun, not ‘getting it right’” – Lisa Heywood
Members of Halsway Manor are also invited to a dinner at 6.30pm, before the ceilidh, as part of our AGM festivities. The cost of dinner + ceilidh is £20, and there is the added option of staying B&B for a further £25.
