We’re having a bit of a knees up to celebrate our 60th Anniversary! Of course, Halsway Manor has been here much longer, but in 1965, the Halsway Manor Society was created and began to welcome guests for folk dance holidays throughout the year. The programme has grown and changed a good deal since then, but modern Halsway works hard to maintain the same principals of sharing the folk arts with as many people as possible through our courses for adults, young people and families.

Our special party weekend will be hosted by a team representing Halsway courses, past, present and future. There will be music and dance sessions with our weekend house band of Paul Hutchinson, John Dipper, and Gareth Kiddier with caller Jane Thomas, and song sessions led by Dom Stichbury and Anna Tabbush. It will be a chance for you to get together with other people who love Halsway as much as you do – whether you’ve been coming since the early days or only recently found us, you’ll be just as welcome.

Do consider bringing a friend or partner to share your room – single occupancy rooms will be limited for this weekend.

We’re planning some special treats to make the weekend go with a bang (or at least a good fizzy pop!) and, rumours are, there might some exclusive merchandise for weekend guests…

Not only that, but during our members’ priority booking period, we’ll take £60 off the price for all members (ends 2pm, 07/02/25).
Please note that although members can book multiple places, the £60 discount will only apply to additional guests who are also members. Other places will be charged at full price.

If you’re not yet a Halsway Member but would like to book, we can add your name to the waiting list and we’ll get back to you once the priority booking period has ended.

Who is it for?

Anyone who loves Halsway! And would like to spend a weekend here in the middle of summer, soaking up the atmosphere, listening to the birdsong, and dabbling in some enjoyable folk-based activities. The programme will be mixed, and some free sessions will be available for you to enjoy our surroundings and each other’s company.

The Team

Jane Thomas is a regular on the Devon and West Country folk dance scene, and hosts our summer Folk Dance Holiday.
